The Single Woman’s Dash of Sass: Celebrate Your Fear! It Means Greatness is Near!

Quote of the Day:

“Another year is fast approaching. Go be that starving artist you’re afraid to be. Open up that journal and get poetic finally. Volunteer. Suck it up and travel. You were not born here to work and pay taxes. You were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create. Stop putting it off. The world has much more to offer than what’s on 15 televisions at TGI Fridays. Take pictures. Scare people. Shake up the scene. Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~Jason Mraz

The Single Woman Says:

I love this quote, and I thought today was the perfect day to post this quote, since Halloween is a day in which we celebrate being scared. Every other day of the year, we run from our fears. We steer clear of anything that scares us. And we play is safe to avoid the deep, dark unknown. Yet, Halloween is a day in which we take out our freak flags and wave them as high as we can, without regard to fear. We are exactly who we wanna be. Halloween also kicks off the holiday season, which takes us all the way up to the new year. And guess what, friends? Before we know it, it will be Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then 2012. Another new year. Another chance to be the person we always knew we could be. Another year to drop everything that’s holding us back from pursuing our dreams and go for broke. So I say now, TODAY, is the time to seize that fear that you’re celebrating this Halloween and carry it with you all the way to the end of 2011. Carry it with you as a reminder that it’s OKAY to be scared. Being scared means you’re about to do something really, really brave. Something that others might laugh at or scoff at or judge you for. Being scared means you’re stepping outside your comfort zone. Being scared means you’re taking a deep breath and facing the fear…taking the leap, not knowing whether the net will appear. So celebrate your fear today. Then use it to become the person you’re meant to be tomorrow.
