The Single Woman’s Dash of Sass: Sometimes Winging It Is the Only Way to Fly!

Quote of the Day:

“If you hold on to the handle it’s easier to maintain the illusion of control. But it’s more fun if you just let the wind carry you.” ~Brian Andreas

The Single Woman Says:

I am a planner. An orchestrator. A Type-A personality if there ever was one. I’m one of those people who makes a plan to make a plan. It’s a little out of control. And recently I’ve started to see that by attempting to plan and map out and control every little detail of my life, I’m taking away my opportunity to experience some of life’s greatest joys – like synchronicity, and surprise, and MAGIC. One of the greatest things about being The Single Woman is that you guys have welcomed me into your lives and your consciousness right where I’m at…accepting me as the imperfect, flawed, sometimes hot mess that I am…and I love you for it. You have connected with my message because it’s YOUR message…and you’re experiencing life’s ups and downs and turns and twists right along with me. So because of that, I feel comfortable with laying my life wide open before you and letting you know that I don’t have it all together. I don’t always get it right. And I don’t have all the answers.

But I’m willing to ask the questions.

I’m willing to stumble and make a complete fool of myself if it will prevent someone else’s fall. So…confession time: I am a control freak. I work myself to a frazzle attempting to control every aspect of life and trying to prevent anything bad from every happening. I don’t like leaving myself or the people I care about wide open for just anything to happen. I try to protect myself and my friends and family from ever experiencing anything negative…and in doing so, I am also protecting them and myself from experiencing the sheer magical bliss that the unknown moments of life can bring. The fiercely loyal and protective nature of my personality, coupled with the fact that I am a former producer who can’t resist the urge to “produce” life as you would a TV show, often leaves me frantically organizing behind-the-scenes to the point that when it comes time to sit back and ENJOY the event…I’m exhausted, frustrated, and completely stressed out. I’m learning that I have to allow myself to LIVE without making a plan to live. Not everything in life requires a plan. Sometimes winging it as we go along is the only REAL way to fly. Don’t miss the party because you’re too busy planning it.

If you’re struggling with control issues today…I urge you to sit back, open your hands, and release your carefully orchestrated plans…trusting that God has your back and Life is unfolding just as it should.
