Dash of Sass: The Beautiful Uncertainty of a New Season

SummerFallIt’s funny how day by day, nothing on the surface seems to be changing, but then all at once you look around and you find yourself in the midst of a new season. With the best of summer behind us and the best of fall ahead of us, we’re in a transitional time…a time when nothing is certain & everything is possible. New seasons arrive when it’s time…not when we’re ready. And as melancholy as it can feel to let summer go, much like the leaves that will soon be falling from the trees…it’s time to release anything holding you back from entering into your new season. Like the leaves, let things that don’t fit you or grow you or serve you anymore fall peacefully and drift away. No anger, no bitterness, no resentment…just stillness and surrender and acceptance. The beautiful thing about letting go is that you’re left with arms open, eyes open, heart open…free to embrace everything that’s coming next. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” ~Ecclesiastes 3:1

Amazing words hitting me to the core! Few weeks back I thought I was gonna stop breathing, broken hearted, wore my heart on my sleeve and got burnt so badly! I feel like I’ve woken up, cloud is gone, only new beginnings! Don’t know what my life is giving birth to, but I feel it coming and I’m embracing what’s coming! *smiling*

This struck a chord with me. At the beginning of summer (December here in NZ) my life took a massive plunge into darkness. Slowly and very unsteadily I pull myself together ..accepting, understanding and letting go.. those words so easy to type express little of the difficulty involved in doing so. Now spring is upon me and I feel a little warmer and brighter, I think I’m ready to venture out and look for me and the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

Here is sunny South Africa it’s Spring. So all the excitement of everything new is hanging in the air.

This is so true… thank you so much. I think I am going through my transition phase now..and it is so hard especially for someone who like to be in the know and to be controlling…I just need to let go and let God…thanks for the timely reminder.

I am telling you Mandy ,you NEVER cease to amaze me .it seems like everyday that I recieve your emails ,it is exactly what I need for that day. that my sweet girl is G-d and his leading in your life .way to listen.this is the time of year that I do start transitioning. I love fall ,but loath Winter.my birthday is this month and I dont mind the getting “older” there truly is wisdom with age and it( is)” just a number”,but I start reflecting on my life ,what I have accomplished in that year .and that is what puts me in a bad place mentally.all the hurt ,pain etc… seem to come flooding in this time of year .not sure why .I have had a great and blessed summer.but with the changing of the leaves ,comes a falling away of my heart .please pray for me,for peace and stillness before the L-rd @ this time .thank you Mandy for your great wisdom and encouragment everyday .

Mandy, you wrote “. . . a transitional time…a time when nothing is certain & everything is possible.”
I am in that period of life right now. A season in which I feel God is leading me to live strongly for others and not comfortably as a retired woman, alone. Nothing is certain. EVERYTHING is possible through Him if what my heart and mind have been filled with (Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.) comes to that pivotal transition. My family will scoff, others will tell me impossible, but where my God is, all things are possible.

I’ve always loved Autumn, fall, as you say. I love your wisdom so much. Thank you for the great words that truly always hit the ‘spot’. I must try, try, try to remember stillness, surrender and acceptance instead of this overwhelming trapped anger that’s eating away at me. I will try to let it fall away like the autumn leaves in the wind. Thanks again.

Nomagugu..that was me beginning of August. I thought that I would actually die. So heart broken that I would feel myself drowning.I had just broken off an 8year connection. But through that season I felt God’s love comfort me and restore me. I can only think of ways to fly again.
