Dash of Sass: New Season, New YOU

SpringIt’s the first day of spring!!! Which means you’re not winter you anymore. You’re not fall you anymore. You’re not summer you anymore. And you don’t have to let any YOU that came before define you! You’re a brand new you!!! And just like nature shifts with the seasons in order to flourish, it’s time for us to shift also. The seeds that have been lying dormant all winter are getting ready to burst forth from the ground and bear fruit…and all you have to do is get out of the way and let them. Spring is a season of new hopes and new dreams and new goals and new life. So don’t cling to the person you were yesterday or the day before that or the day before that. It’s time to shed old mindsets and habits and people who are not allowing you to grow and make way for a new day!!! HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING 2015!

This all rings true to me because I’ll finally be retiring in June and beginning the next phase of my life on my own terms. I’m excited and can’t wait.

I’ve been taking on 2015 as a year to set and meet some serious goals and make some important changes in my life. I’ve been able to drop almost 30lbs, I’m ready to leave the journalism industry behind, I’m building a stronger relationship with God, my friends and family. I’m working on getting my novel published. And I want to find a new place that I can call home. But of course, there’s always a bumpy road on the path to your dreams. I’ve been stressing about being single lately, especially after a guy I was interested in blew me off and disappeared. Like you, Mandy, I’m also on my way to turning 35 in a year and wondering why I’m still single. So, I’m glad I picked up your first book to help talk me through it, so I can stay happy and focused on my goals. 🙂

I look to this girl, this young woman that has been through so much with so much love, she has paved a way for the woman I am becoming. It is difficult to leave her behind but the woman I am becoming can’t live the way the girl that I was used to. The woman that I am thinks before she does anything, she looks to God for all that she wants to be. Nothing is as it was before, the new woman in me is learning how to be strong on her own, through the help of God, she doesn’t need anyone to feel validated. This road is new for her but so refreshing and promising, she is coming to all that she was meant to be!!!!

It’s always good to move on. Do not cling to what has not worked for years. Start a brand new chapter. All the best!
