Dash of Sass: Turn the Page

TurnThePageIt’s a new day, a new month, a new season. A new start. Turn the page. Don’t stay stuck re-reading the last chapter because what’s to come is uncertain. Everything in life that matters starts off with a little uncertainty. The stories your life has told in the past were good…and they got you to today…so be thankful for them, but then let them go. Turn the page. Allow yourself to be the leading lady (or gentleman) of your life. Walk in confidence into the next chapter of your life. Let some characters run off the page without chasing them…for if they were meant to be protagonists of your prose, they surely wouldn’t have to be endlessly pursued. Turn the page. Don’t devote another book, another chapter, another paragraph, another word, another FOOTNOTE to people who don’t appreciate and respect and deserve you. Make room for new characters to arrive…characters that will make you laugh and cry and stretch and grow and become a better person. Turn the page. Stay open to plot twists, to edits, to rewrites, to the unexpected. Stop searching for a happy ending and start creating a happy LIFE. Let go of the hurts, the mistakes, the doubts, the fears, the struggles, the moments that have made you feel small…and realize that anyone or anything that tries to shrink you only succeeds in making you bigger and bolder and better. Turn the page. Tell your story in YOUR voice, in your way, in your timing…and stop asking permission to go where you want to go and do what you want to do and feel how you want to feel. It’s a new day, a new month, a new season. A new start. Turn the page.

Amen! It so important to look into the future, but that doesn’t mean we should be ignoring the present. Hooray for a new day!

I have a Mr Big, that comes in and out of my life. I need to turn the page and this has helped to underline the fact he has to go.

      Great post Mandy.
Look to the future but live in the present because thats all we have – right now!
I try to remember I am really alive – with all my wonderful ups and downs. Many people just settle and drift.

OMH I needed to see this today. The Toad of my fairy tale just confessed that he’s moving in with another girl. I have been chasing this man for 3 years and today ends the chase. I need to turn the page. Thank you for this!

Oh wow, Ann! I just had to comment because I also waited just over 3 years for a guy to go the distance with our relationship. I had to turn the page by moving to another country! It’s not easy, but you’re making room for someone who will appreciate you and treat you the way you deserve!

Well said. If he really wanted to be with you, he would do all the chasing!

So well said. I needed this. Having a blossoming friendship, and great chemistry with an emotionally unavailable man, has left me emotionally baron, stripped of all my self-worth. Sadly, it wasn’t without my permission though. I settled for crumbs, happy to receive them when they arrived.

I told him even though I’ll miss him, he’s not healthy for me. I let go….but, it’s not easy.

Tanya…. I am going through a similar situation and have been for a little over a year. I haven’t had the courage to move on as you have, yet. Praying I will!

Very true. I need to move on. The hardest part is knowing you’ve said stupid, unacceptable things and your actions have made someone special leave your life.

Wow! I just happened on your blog today looking for books about being single and I am so happy that I have found it! Looking through your blog posts have hit me, especially this one. I loved your words so much I had to write them down so I can always look at them. I have been so scared in forming new friendships that I have been holding myself back. This has hurt my progress in breaking down my barriers for them to come in. You have helped me realize that I need to lead so I can have a happy life and not get weighed down by those fears and doubts.
I love when you said to leave room for edits and plot twists. This also gives me hope in finding someone to share my life with. I have been confused recently in what God wants for my life; either to be single or have a husband. I am young and not interested in any type of relationship right now and I can’t even see myself walking down the aisle; but this has got me thinking this is only a season in my life. Time will change and pages will turn. Thank you so much for your words, I cannot wait to read more!
