Recording Artist Mandisa to Host Valentine’s Day Event for Single Women
Nashville, Tenn. - American Idol finalist
and three-time GRAMMY nominee Mandisa is slated to host a Valentine’s Day event
for single women Feb. 14.
The event, called Galentines, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at
LifeWay Christian Resources’ downtown Nashville home office. It will also be
broadcast online.
“This will be the first
time in many years that I am not sitting on my couch, watching some romantic
comedy, and eating a tub of ice cream by myself on Feb. 14,” Mandisa said.
“Women are so much more than their marital statuses.”
Part of the event includes
a concert with Mandisa and an interview with Mandy Hale. Hale, author of the upcoming The Single Woman: Life, Love
& a Dash of Sass, has a following of over half a million people
on Twitter at @TheSingleWoman.
“I just want to give single
women a PLACE,” Hale said. “So often, we go through life feeling like we don’t
quite fit in anywhere, and Valentine’s Day only seems to exacerbate those
feelings.”
LifeWay Bible study authors
Kelly Minter and Lisa Harper also plan to speak at the event.
“My hope is that single
women of all ages and walks of life will be encouraged to live fully in Jesus
right where they are, embracing a life characterized not by miserably waiting
around but by wholly giving themselves to the present,” Minter said.
The live event costs $20.
Women not in the Nashville area can watch Galentines from a home computer for $10 as long as they have an Internet connection.
