New Beginnings

Welp, it’s been a hot minute, y’all.

Almost four months, to be exact.

A lot of you have asked me where I’ve been. Why I haven’t been writing. Why I haven’t been posting on social media as much.

The truth is…I needed a little sabbatical. A short season away from the written word. Away from being “The Single Woman.” Away from pithy, 140-character soundbites.

I needed to just be Mandy for a little bit. Actually, I needed to figure » Read More

The Boy Upstairs

I’ve hesitated to tell this story.

I felt like perhaps I should ease into my Bumble adventures by telling you the simple stories…the funny stories…the stories with happier endings. This story is none of those things. It’s complicated. It’s confusing. It doesn’t have a happy ending…just an ending. It’s a story with pages filled less with words than they are blank space. Uncertainty. Lots of questions. Few answers.

In a moment ripped straight from a romantic comedy, a little over » Read More

Let’s Get Ready to Bumbllllllllllle!!!

Soooooo…

As I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago, I recently decided to try a dating app for the first time in my life. I’ve had brushes with online dating over the years, but I’ve never committed to it fully. For example, a few years ago I partnered with a pretty well-known dating site during the release of my first book, The Single Woman. The idea was to try online dating through their platform and write » Read More

Almost Doesn’t Count…Or Does It?

I decided two weeks ago today to try online dating for the first time. Well, a dating app, actually. And since I haven’t really dated at all in more than two years…being out there again…putting myself out there again…has been exhilarating and terrifying and new and different. Or in other words, everything my life seems to represent these days as I continue to transition from one version of myself to another. To finally feel ready » Read More

The Top Ten Books All Single Women Should Read

I’ve wanted to write this blog for a really long time. Since I am a bookworm, the #1 way I get inspired in whatever season of life I’m in is through the written word. While there are a TON of books out there that I think send the wrong messages to singles (anything having to do with “make any man fall in love with you” or “get married in 6 months or less by reading » Read More

Dash of Sass: Hindsight is 20/20

You didn’t know. You trusted, and you loved, and you assumed the best of someone…and that is never wrong. You took a shot on love or on friendship…and that is always brave. You believed that the other person would treat you with the same dignity and respect with which you treated them…and that is noble. You didn’t know. You didn’t know they weren’t capable of loving you back. You didn’t know they weren’t trustworthy. You didn’t know they didn’t » Read More

Dash of Sass: Sentence, Chapter, or Book?

You know what? Sometimes this happens in life…we dedicate entire chapters and books to people who barely give us a footnote in the story of their lives. I’ve done it. I did it – literally! For years I tried to cast someone as the romantic lead in my story who hadn’t even auditioned for the part. And there are moments I want to take my book I’ve Never Been to Vegas but My Luggage Has » Read More

Ten Lessons You Learn in Your 30’s

As most of you know, 2014 saw the release of my second book, I’ve Never Been to Vegas But My Luggage Has…which is essentially my life story.

As much as I love my first book, The Single Woman, (and I do love that book, with all my heart) #NeverBeenToVegas is and will always be particularly special to me. It is essentially my heart, my LIFE…poured out on pages for the world to see. And I never dreamed » Read More

Why I’m Choosing to Get Uncomfortable This Year

Usually every new year, I fill my vision board up with at least 20-25 goals and resolutions for the year. And over the past four years, I’ve seen amazing things happen and dreams realized that were literally lifted verbatim, right off that simple white dry erase board.

This year, however, I wanted to do things a little differently. This year I only listed one goal on my vision board.

“I will seek, pursue, and fall in love » Read More

The Single Woman’s Dash of Sass: If It Matters, It’s At Least a LITTLE Scary

Quote of the Day: “It was so risky and so scary, and yet at the same time, so beautiful. Maybe the truth was, it shouldn’t be easy to be amazing. Then everything would be. It’s the things you fight for and struggle with before earning that have the greatest worth.” ~Sarah Dessen “What wonderful thing didn’t start out scary?” ~Isaac Marion The Single Woman » Read More
